Its a B.A.R.N. world! This is my back yard, which is 100% garden this year. "Barn" is really the bike shed.

This is a no-till garden. There is a layer of cardboard with straw on top of that. It suppresses weeds (I know, I know...the shadows have foes), but it also shields in hippie fungal spores I put into the ground.

UNCHALLENGED KALE! Collards are next to go in the ground (Siege Of Collards) once it gets a little warmer!

YOU COMPOST (BUT WHY?)

WHIRLWIND COMPOST. There is a lot of "spent grain" in there from a recent brew day:

I wouldn't say I garden but I take a lot of pride in my lawn and so I make sure it's mowed and edged.

I've been helping my future mother in law a lot with her garden though.

That rules!
One of these days when I get the time and space, I am gonna do a garden.
A sweet one.

Here are some garden updates! The kale, collards, and other cold weather stuff is doing great, but the tomatoes and other HOT SHIT have only really started to move in the last week since it got hot.

Yesterday I emptied the compost tumbler and made a tea for the whole garden. It took about 1.5 months for the food and paper to be completely composted! Its insane how fast that fucker works. I recommend them to everyone.

I'm very jealous of all your fresh greens(420). I look forward to the day I can grow most of my food. We had a few raised boxes at the last house I lived at. The old bike rims rarely kept the cats out of them though. I want to build a few more boxes next spring. Sounds to me like you and the Dirt Doctor Howard Garrett would be good pals.

Looking good!

Just picked up Gaia's garden from my bookstore, I think next year Im going to use this method instead of raised beds and random berry bushes. I want my whole backyard to be a jungle.

If you have not looked into it, Gaia's garden is a guide to urban Permaculture. Some very cool information.

I haven't read that, but I will go look for it next time I'm at a brick and mortal bookstore. I would go out to garden centers around the area and look for discount berry bushes or strawberries. They are hit looking this time of year, but its a good time to get them cheap for next year.

Tempeh! I made some from azuki, black, pinto, and garbanzo beans. I didn't do it quite right (beans were too wet when they went into the bag), but it was still edible and awesome.
